The CAMPEP-accredited Medical Physics Residency Program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (https://icahn.mssm.edu/medicalphysicsresidency) invites applications for a three-year resident position. The training program is scheduled to start on September 1, 2026.

Our residency program is designed to prepare residents for successful professional careers and leadership positions in medical physics through a unique curriculum that combines rigorous research training with comprehensive clinical experience. Following the recommendation of AAPM Report #249, the program consists of one year of dedicated research followed by two years of structured clinical training.

Clinical Training & Technology

Residents complete 12 clinical rotations encompassing all major aspects of radiation oncology physics practice. Training includes: treatment planning and dosimetric systems; IGRT, HDR and LDR brachytherapy; machine commissioning and quality assurance; motion management using AlignRT and RPM; special procedures such as IVBT, Xofigo, ZEISS IntraBeam IORT, total skin electron therapy, total body irradiation, and radiation protection/shielding.

The Mount Sinai Health System operates 11 linear accelerators, primarily Varian TrueBeam machines, in addition to a Gamma Knife radiosurgery unit and multiple brachytherapy systems. A new Elekta Unity MR-Linac is currently being installed and is expected to be operational in 2026.
