Job Description

The Department of Radiation Oncology at UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Medical Physicist to join our dedicated team of 1 Radiation Oncologist, 2 dosimetrists, 4 radiation therapists and 1 CT simulation therapist. UPMC Western Maryland offers state-of-the-art treatment on 2 Varian linacs (1 TrueBeam ,1 Trilogy and 1 PET/CT Sim unit), Eclipse treatment planning system with Aria record and verify database. A partial remote coverage can also be discussed.

UPMC Hillman Cancer Center has partnered with community-based hospitals throughout the region to develop one of the largest integrated community networks of cancer physicians and health care specialists in the country.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the work of dosimetrists to ensure accurate and personalized treatment plans.

• Collaborate with the Radiation Oncologist to plan and deliver patient treatments.

• Develop and direct quality control programs for equipment and procedures.

• Ensure equipment functionality by taking precise measurements of the radiation beam.

• Perform clinical physics duties, including maintaining Commonwealth regulatory compliance and calibrating all radiation therapy equipment.

Equipment and Technology:

• 2 Varian linear accelerators (1 TrueBeam, 1 Trilogy)

• 1 PET/CT Simulation unit

• Eclipse treatment planning system with Aria record and verify database

A physical science or engineering degree required, medical physics is preferred.

• Masters required

• Two years Radiation Oncology Physics experience required, five years preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

American Board of Radiology (ABR) certified in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics or ABR Board eligible.
