Job Description

The William E. Kahlert Regional Cancer Center, a department of Sinai Hospital, LifeBridge Health, in Westminster, Maryland, is an Integrated Network Cancer Program accredited by the Commission on Cancer and by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). The center provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals with cancer, blood disorders, and hematologic malignancies.

We are seeking a full-time Medical Oncology/Hematology Nurse Practitioner to join our collaborative, multidisciplinary oncology team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with board-certified Medical Oncologists while providing comprehensive outpatient oncology and hematology care, supporting infusion services, and participating in inpatient oncology consultations as needed.

About This Role

Clinical Practice
• Provide comprehensive patient assessments, formulate diagnoses, and develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
• Order, interpret, and manage diagnostic testing and prescribe medications and therapies within the scope of practice.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, high-quality patient care.
• Facilitate specialty consultations while supporting efficient patient flow and continuity of care.
• Educate and counsel patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, symptom management, preventive care, and available support services.
• Advocate for patients and coordinate supportive services, including pain management, palliative care, survivorship and other appropriate resources.
• Perform procedures and provide specialty consultations as appropriate to the clinical practice.

Leadership & Quality
• Partner with physician leadership and multidisciplinary teams to advance clinical outcomes, patient experience, safety, and quality metrics.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review, evidence-based practice, and development of clinical pathways.
• Contribute to innovative models of care and the integration of best practices to enhance patient outcomes and care delivery.
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to colleagues while contributing to departmental and organizational initiatives.

Education & Professional Development
• Participate in grand rounds, journal clubs, continuing education, and other professional development activities.
• Engage with professional organizations and contribute to local, regional, and national educational initiatives.
• Support community health education, outreach, and disease-prevention initiatives.

Research & Academic Opportunities
• Participate in clinical research, evidence-based practice initiatives, and industry-sponsored clinical trials.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advance evidence-based care and improve oncology outcomes.

Qualifications
• Required education: Master's degree in nursing or science as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Required license: Current Maryland Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) certification and registration with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses and national certification in the applicable specialty (ACNP, AGPCNP, FNP).
• Required certification: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS required for inpatient responsibilities
• DEA and CDS eligibility.
• Preferred: 2 to 3 years of experience in ambulatory and/or inpatient hematology/oncology practice and oncology infusion.
• Preferred: Experience with oncology research and clinical trials.
• Required clinical knowledge: Strong clinical knowledge of oncology and experience with a team-based model of oncology care.
• Required professional skills: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, staff and physicians and function independently.
