OUTPATIENT HEMATOLOGIST / MEDICAL ONCOLOGIST
The Woodlands and Huntsville, Texas
Full-Time or Part-Time
North Houston Cancer Clinics is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible hematologist/medical oncologist to join our independent oncology practice. Medical oncology-only candidates are also welcome.
This is an exclusively outpatient position with no hospital rounding, inpatient coverage, or scheduled weekend clinics. The physician will work directly with physician-owner Dr. Elham Abbasi, without multiple partners or administrative reporting layers. The practice handles routine administrative and practice-management responsibilities so the physician can focus on patient care.
This opportunity is well suited for a physician who values personalized care, professional independence, and the opportunity to learn both the clinical and business aspects of operating an independent oncology practice.
POSITION DETAILS
• Full-time or part-time employment available.
• Full-time schedule: five weekdays, divided between our two locations, with three days at one office and two days at the other.
• Part-time schedule: minimum of three days per week, involving both locations with the schedule agreed upon individually.
• Typical volume: approximately 20–30 patients per day.
• Support team includes two infusion nurses and four medical assistants.
• Electronic medical record: CureMD.
• Part-time physicians have no after-hours call obligation.
• Full-time physicians may receive occasional outpatient laboratory or chemotherapy-patient advice calls.
• No routine administrative or practice-management duties.
FULL-TIME COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
• Annual base salary of $450,000–$550,000, depending on experience.
• Productivity incentives, with terms discussed individually.
• Three weeks (15 days) of paid vacation annually.
• Health insurance.
• Malpractice insurance during employment; tail coverage arrangements discussed individually.
• Relocation assistance up to $20,000.
• Retirement benefits subject to plan eligibility.
PARTNERSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH
A full-time physician may be considered for partnership after at least two years of employment. Partnership would require a buy-in, and timing, valuation, and other terms would be mutually negotiated.
Dr. Abbasi can also provide mentorship in the clinical and business aspects of independent oncology practice. This may be especially valuable for a physician who may eventually want to become a partner or establish an independent practice.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Board-certified or board-eligible in medical oncology.
• Hematology/oncology training is preferred, but medical oncology-only candidates will be considered.
• Eligible for an unrestricted Texas medical license by the employment start date.
• Commitment to compassionate, personalized, evidence-based cancer care.
• Ability to work at both The Woodlands and Huntsville locations.
We welcome experienced physicians, candidates available after credentialing, and fellows graduating in summer 2027. Visa sponsorship is not currently available.
Part-time compensation and benefits will be negotiated separately based on the agreed schedule and responsibilities.
