Medical Assistant - Hematology and Oncology Clinic (FT)

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY?

The Medical Assistant (MA) records vital signs, gathers patient medical history, prepares exam rooms and patients for examination, provides condition-specific education, and coordinates care under the guidance of the provider.

Job Specific:
• Provide safe and effective patient care in the clinical setting. (EF)
• Prepare treatment room for patient examination. (EF)
• Interview patients, obtain vital signs and document information in the patient?s chart. (EF)
• Triage patient phone calls, consult with provider, respond to patient questions, and notify patient of test results as directed. (EF)
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. (EF)
• Performs phlebotomy duties such as specimen collection and blood draws as assigned.
• Provide condition-specific education, and care coordination, under the guidance of the provider. (EF)
• Conduct inventories and order medical supplies. Keep all areas stocked and neat in appearance. (EF)
• Perform EKGs with precision and accuracy as directed by provider. (EF)
• Complete documentation associated with daily responsibilities. (EF)

Hospital:
• Adheres to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
• Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital?s Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
• Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital?s Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
• Performs within the?professional Scope of Practice at all times.

Job Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Required:? High School education or GED

Preferred: Current certification as a Medical Assistant.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Minimum of one year experience in a clinical setting.?

Preferred: Training and dedicated experience related to the clinic specialty.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Required: Basic computer skills, ability to effectively communicate, and a willingness to travel to satellite clinics (if applicable).

Preferred: Familiar with medical terminology, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with an electronic medical record platform.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Required: BLS (CPR)?

Preferred: Current certification as a Medical Assistant.?
