SUMMARY


The Department of Thoracic/Head & Neck Medical Oncology (THNMO) at MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Thoracic Medical Oncologist to join our team as a full-time Assistant Professor with a focus on thoracic clinical care and research.


This position offers an exciting opportunity for professional growth and development by joining a highly collaborative team of clinicians, physician-scientists, and clinical, basic science, and translational investigators. The successful candidate will work closely with ongoing research programs focused on carcinogenesis, cancer prevention, treatment, biomarker development, and other initiatives supporting precision therapy for thoracic and head and neck cancers. Faculty have access to THNMO's extensive patient population, state-of-the-art core facilities, animal models, molecular pathology laboratories, and outstanding educational and training programs. The department is supported by an NIH Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) grant, along with numerous other programmatic and peer-reviewed grants that advance its translational research mission.





RESPONSIBILITIES


Providing patient care at MD Anderson's Texas Medical Center campus and Houston-area locations, establishing a thoracic-focused clinical research program, and caring for patients in the Thoracic Cancer Center. The successful candidate will also teach and mentor fellows and trainees within the Department of Thoracic/Head & Neck Medical Oncology and the Division of Cancer Medicine, while collaborating with multidisciplinary colleagues to further strengthen the department's clinical and research programs.





EDUCATION


Required: Doctorate-level degree in a field appropriate to faculty role and department mission Licensed to practice in the State of Texas Board certified (or obtained within departmental timeline) unless exempted




EXPERIENCE


Required: At least two (2) years as Instructor or (5) years post clinical degree with any combination of time as a: clinician, clinical scientist or GME trainee (except specialties with shorter residencies or fellowships). Appropriate post medical doctoral training per discipline.



LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:


Required: Licensed to practice in State of Texas Board certified (or obtained within departmental timeline), unless exempted
