Locum Hematology/Oncology Physician

Description

We are seeking a Locum Hematology/Oncology Physician to join a growing oncology program and provide comprehensive care for patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions. This position offers a primarily outpatient practice setting with occasional inpatient consults, a predictable weekday schedule, and no call responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be flexible, adaptable, and comfortable managing a broad range of oncology treatments while collaborating with an interdisciplinary care team.

About the Facility

This opportunity is with an acute care hospital-based oncology program in New York. The practice operates primarily in an outpatient oncology clinic setting and utilizes Epic electronic medical records with AI-assisted charting capabilities. The oncology department includes a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering high-quality cancer care and supporting program growth.

Job Responsibilities


• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with hematologic and oncologic disorders.

• Develop and oversee individualized treatment plans.

• Administer and manage:

• Chemotherapy

• Immunotherapy

• Targeted therapy

• Hormone therapy




• Provide outpatient oncology care for approximately 18–20 patients per day.

• Perform inpatient consults as needed during normal operating hours (infrequent).

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic EMR.

• Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and clinical support staff.

• Support continuity of care and treatment monitoring.

• Adapt to evolving workflows within a growing oncology program.


Qualifications


• Board Eligible (BE) or Board Certified (BC) in Hematology/Oncology.

• Active New York medical license required and must be in hand at time of submission.

• Minimum of 5 years of Hematology/Oncology experience required.

• Epic EMR experience required.

• Strong outpatient oncology experience preferred.

• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary care team.

• Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic clinical environment.

• Must maintain an up-to-date work history with no employment gaps exceeding 30 days.

• Physician statement required for any malpractice history, regardless of outcome.

• Schedule: Monday - Friday

• Shift: Day Shift

• Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

• One-hour lunch break included

• No call coverage required

• Scheduled coverage only


• Full-time strongly preferred; near full-time availability may be considered

• Overtime available as needed
