The Licensed Radiation Therapist plays a critical role in cancer treatment by delivering precise radiation therapy and monitoring patient responses during treatment sessions.
The Licensed Radiation Therapist will work closely with physicians, medical physicists, dosimetrists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. The Licensed Radiation Therapist must demonstrate strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills. This Licensed Radiation Therapist position requires the ability to operate advanced radiation therapy equipment, maintain accurate patient records, and adhere to strict safety protocols.
The Licensed Radiation Therapist is responsible for preparing patients for treatment, positioning patients accurately, verifying treatment parameters, and administering radiation treatments according to prescribed plans. The Licensed Radiation Therapist will also provide emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding treatment procedures and expectations. A successful Licensed Radiation Therapist is committed to delivering exceptional patient care while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
• Administer radiation treatments as prescribed by radiation oncologists.
• Prepare and position patients accurately for radiation therapy procedures.
• Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment safely and effectively.
• Review treatment plans and verify treatment parameters before administering therapy.
• Monitor patients during radiation treatment sessions and respond to concerns appropriately.
• Maintain accurate patient records, treatment documentation, and clinical reports.
• Collaborate with physicians, dosimetrists, medical physicists, and healthcare teams to ensure optimal treatment delivery.
• Educate patients and family members regarding radiation therapy procedures and treatment expectations.
• Follow radiation safety standards and infection control protocols at all times.
• Conduct quality assurance checks on radiation therapy equipment and treatment plans.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition to appropriate healthcare providers.
• Assist with treatment simulations and imaging procedures when required.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with healthcare regulations.
• Participate in departmental meetings, training programs, and continuing education activities.
• Provide compassionate support to patients throughout their treatment journey.
Education:
• Associate's Degree Must be a graduate from an accredited Radiation therapy program Required
Certifications:
• ARRT Radiation Therapy Required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Required
Experience:
• Minimum 2 years Experience in Radiation Therapy Preferred
