Lead Radiation Therapist - Oncology

Adventist Health is on the lookout for a dedicated Lead Radiation Therapist to join our compassionate oncology team. In this full-time day shift position, you'll play a crucial role in delivering precise radiation treatments while providing exceptional care to our patients. You will operate advanced equipment such as linear accelerators and CT simulators, ensuring safe and accurate patient positioning. Collaborating closely with radiation oncologists, physicists, and nursing staff, you will not only focus on treatment planning but also take pride in mentoring and guiding junior staff. Key Responsibilities
• Administer daily radiation treatments accurately based on physician prescriptions and treatment plans.
• Effectively and safely operate linear accelerators, CT simulators, and other radiation therapy equipment.
• Confirm patient identity, positioning, and immobilization for precise dose delivery.
• Conduct and document thorough pre-treatment quality assurance and safety checks.
• Monitor patients throughout their treatment, evaluate tolerance, and communicate any changes to the care team.
• Keep detailed records within our electronic medical records (EMR), treatment logs, and radiation documentation.
• Work collaboratively with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and nursing personnel to enhance patient care.
• Educate patients and their families about treatment processes, possible side effects, and self-care strategies.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior therapists and students.
• Follow all regulatory standards, infection prevention methods, and radiation safety protocols diligently.
