Job Description

Summary of Duties

Pay Range: $53.67/hr to $79.426/hr.
The Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs duties related to the administration of radioactive materials, maintaining high professional standards at all times with attention to customer safety, patient care and the production of high quality exams. Serves as the department coordinator. Reviews and implements regulatory requirements, and policies and procedures, as required by the Clinical Radiation Safety Committee. Participates in regulatory inspections as a liaison for Nuclear Medicine.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Performed majority of the time:

· Assists in patient procedures, as needed, and in other work related duties within a clinical department.

· Prepares and administers radio-pharmaceuticals under the direction of a Nuclear Medicine Physician.

· Operates several types of computers for the purpose of imaging, computer analysis of patient studies, order entry, billing, data entry, and word processing.

· Coordinate and participate in required inspections involving Nuclear Medicine and radioactive materials for the organization.

· Maintains an accurate log of all patients and procedures

· Prepare reports and provide requested information for the Radiation Safety Committee. Attendance is required at quarterly meetings. Act on issues addressed during meetings.

· Works closely with designated Radiation Safety Officer.

· Provides care appropriate to the age of patients served (neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric), i.e. provides physical therapy to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients based on principles of growth and development and life stages.

· Performs nuclear medicine studies according to departmental procedures.

· Performs assigned quality control procedures by following written quality control procedures and accurately logging the results

· Performs Nuclear Medicine studies according to departmental procedures, expands or modifies procedures as needed to comply with the medical director’s wishes.

· Monitors images produced during nuclear medicine studies to insure that they are as clear and accurate as possible; makes adjustments as necessary.

· Performs computer analysis of patient studies.

· Provides support and leadership for Nuclear Medicine staff.

Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:

· Develops and implements quality control programs in conjunction with the Medical Director.

· Assists with Nuclear Medicine performance reviews.

· Orients and educates new staff.

· Develops and maintains departmental policies in conjunction with the Medical Director.

· Participates in in-service programs and continuing education.

· Participates with the application for renewal of the Radioactive Materials license in cooperation with the Medical Director.

Decision making and budget responsibilities :

· Decisions impact the Nuclear Medicine team.

· Communicates budgetary needs to Director of Diagnostic Imaging

Hiring Competencies

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education:

Required

· Highest academic diploma or transcript.
Preferred

· Completion of a certified school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Experience:

Required

· Minimum two (2) years of experience in Nuclear Medicine.

· Experience in a wide variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

· Experience with computerized scanning equipment and study analysis.

Preferred

· Supervisory experience.

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:

Required

· State of Oregon Nuclear Medicine License.

· Certificate of Nuclear Medicine Technology from the A.R.R.T. or N.M.T.C.B.

· Current Healthcare Provider BLS.

Preferred

· N/A
