## Position overview
Location: AON Lab
Pay Range: $18.93 - $31.56
This role assists Technologists and carries out a range of responsibilities that require sound judgment and a high level of responsibility. You will demonstrate working knowledge of the role, relevant regulations, and organizational and departmental policies and procedures, performing duties in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies. Occasional overtime may be required, and weekend shifts are based on location hours and operational needs.
### On a typical day you might
- Help keep the laboratory organized and perform administrative and clerical duties related to daily lab operations.
- Maintain staff schedules, records and logs, including Quality Control and temperature logs for lab equipment.
- File and label slides, keep specimens and files current, and may perform routine procedures to prepare samples for analysis.
- Carry out specimen discrepancy and rejection processes and process all send-outs (packaging, shipping, documentation) for outside testing.
- Maintain certain instrumentation with appropriate documentation and assist with inventory, purchasing and receiving for assigned areas.
You will also support quality assurance functions through coordination, monitoring, and documentation of QA processes for manager review. Distribution of specimen collection materials to IR facilities, customer support for filling orders, shipping and tracking of supplies (Flow and Histology), and electronic file maintenance are part of the work. For Flow, you will process electrophoresis results for billing and archiving and upload abnormal results into Onco EMR. For Histology, duties include data entry and transcription of gross descriptions and CBC results into Apv. X. Basic reagent preparation and creation or provision of lab paperwork and QA materials for new or relocated Company Offices are included. Assistance with training Company clinic staff for auditing and inspection preparation (central lab) and review of invoices to resolve discrepancies for approval/submission to Accounts Payable are expected tasks.
### What we expect from you
Education requirement is a High School Diploma or GED. The position requires 1-2 years' experience in a medical and/or laboratory setting with an understanding of medical terminology, and 1-2 years' experience with insurance authorization and benefit investigation. Students seeking a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field are desirable. Candidates must demonstrate dependability, flexibility, and adaptability in scheduling and lab responsibilities and have a general understanding of insurance billing if applicable. A clinical laboratory setting is preferred but not required.
