Laboratory IT Support SME / Information Systems Engineer II

Location: Cambridge / Norton, MA (Onsite)



Job Summary



We are seeking a hands-on Laboratory IT Support SME to support laboratory computing systems, scientific instruments, and IT infrastructure across R&D laboratory environments. The ideal candidate will have strong IT troubleshooting experience along with exposure to GxP and Computer System Validation (CSV). This role will act as a bridge between laboratory scientists, instrument vendors, and enterprise IT teams.



Key Responsibilities





- Provide day-to-day IT support for laboratory PCs, instrument-connected systems, and scientific software.
- Troubleshoot hardware, Windows OS, applications, networking, connectivity, and client/server laboratory systems.
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain laboratory and scientific applications, including chromatography and analytical software.
- Support onboarding, installation, and troubleshooting of new laboratory instruments and coordinate with vendors.
- Support Windows administration, Active Directory, user permissions, DNS, connectivity, and backup/restore activities.
- Participate in CSV activities, ensuring appropriate IT technical controls and data integrity requirements are maintained.
- Support IQ/OQ activities and work with instrument vendors on installation, qualification, and technical troubleshooting.
- Maintain technical and validation documentation within Veeva and change control processes.
- Provide onsite support across both Cambridge and Norton, MA locations, with occasional remote off-hours support.





Required Skills & Qualifications





- Bachelor s degree in IT, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- Experience supporting laboratory or scientific computing environments, preferably in pharma, biotech, or manufacturing.
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting experience with instrument-connected PCs, hardware, software, and networking.
- Experience working in a GxP-regulated environment with knowledge of CSV concepts.
- Experience with Windows, Active Directory, networking, Veeva, and change control.
- Knowledge of data integrity and validation documentation.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with scientists, vendors, and IT teams.
- Ability to work onsite regularly at both Cambridge and Norton locations.





Preferred Skills





- Experience supporting Agilent, Waters, Illumina, or other scientific instruments.
- Experience with chromatography or laboratory analytical software.
- Basic Linux and database knowledge.
