Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) - Oncology
Location: Brandywine, MD
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $70,000 - $110,000 annually (based on experience)
Sign-On Bonus: $10,000
Position Overview
NurseAmerica is seeking a skilled and compassionate Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-quality outpatient oncology practice. This role is ideal for nurses with infusion and oncology experience who are passionate about delivering safe, patient-centered cancer care in a collaborative clinical environment.
The Infusion RN provides professional nursing care in accordance with national standards, specialty guidelines, and organizational policies while supporting patients throughout their treatment journey.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate patient care to ensure continuity and quality outcomes
• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, including medical history, labs, imaging, and psychosocial needs
• Prepare and administer infusion therapies under physician supervision
• Administer medications and blood products using proper protocols and safety standards
• Perform venipuncture; access and maintain implanted ports and central venous devices
• Monitor patient response to treatment and collaborate with providers on dose adjustments and symptom management
• Provide patient and family education, counseling, and psychosocial support
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and charge capture
• Ensure all pre-authorizations and consents are obtained prior to treatment
• Manage patient flow, scheduling, triage calls, and follow-up care
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures
• Follow OSHA, infection control, and hazardous material handling guidelines
• Maintain treatment areas, supplies, and equipment per quality standards
• Serve as a resource and mentor to LPNs, medical assistants, and less experienced nurses
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and clinical research as applicable
• Participate in ongoing oncology education and professional development
Infusion-Specific Responsibilities • Program and manage ambulatory infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery
• Educate patients and caregivers on home infusion pump use
• Clean, maintain, and document infusion pump usage
• Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Provider Card preferred
Qualifications • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland
• Current BLS certification
• 3-5 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in oncology preferred
• Infusion nursing experience strongly preferred
• Oncology certification preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills
Work Environment & Physical Requirements • Outpatient oncology/hematology clinic setting
• Possible exposure to radiation, cytotoxic agents, and communicable diseases
• Prolonged standing and walking
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
• Manual dexterity and visual/hearing acuity required
