Hospice & Palliative Care Medical Director

The VA Northern California Health Care System is seeking a compassionate Hospice & Palliative Care (HPC) Medical Director to lead a 16-bed hospice unit at the Martinez Center for Rehabilitation and Extended Care (CREC). In this role, the physician will provide critical clinical and programmatic leadership, shaping care delivery and guiding an interdisciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity for an MD or DO to support Veterans while driving exceptional, person-centered care within a dynamic healthcare environment.

• 16-bed hospice unit at the Martinez Center for Rehabilitation and Extended Care (CREC)

• Geriatrics & Extended Care (GEC) Medical Staff and GEC Oversight Committee

• Martinez VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC)

• Integrated health care delivery system offering medical, surgical, rehabilitative, mental health, and extended care

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical oversight for the 16-bed hospice unit at CREC

• Lead programmatic planning and quality improvements for hospice & palliative care services

• Collaborate with GEC leadership and interdisciplinary teams

• Participate in assigned committee meetings and support compliance with system policies

• Deliver compassionate care aligned with the goals and values of the VA and the Veteran community

Compensation

• Salary Range: $250,000 to $316,000 / Year

• Guaranteed annual salary increases

• Up to $15,000 annual performance bonus

• Total value of compensation package exceeding $400K+
