About the Organization
Riceland Healthcare Systems is a multi-facility hospital-based health organization based in Southeast Texas, with facilities in Beaumont, Winnie, Port Arthur and the surrounding region. We provide a broad continuum of care including inpatient and outpatient services, ambulatory surgery, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, primary care, specialty care, home health, and hospice. We are actively expanding our oncology service line under the clinical leadership of a fellowship-trained Hematology/Medical Oncologist with MD Anderson training.
Position Overview
The Oncology Nurse Practitioner will work within our Hematology/Oncology program in a collaborative practice model under the direct supervision and clinical direction of our Medical Oncologist. The NP will execute established clinical protocols and standing orders, manage patient panels as directed by the supervising physician/medical director, and serve as a key point of continuity for oncology patients across our Southeast Texas clinic network. This is a Beaumont-primary role with a set rotating schedule across Riceland regional clinic locations.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage oncology patient visits and follow-ups in accordance with physician-established protocols and SOPs
• Conduct comprehensive assessments and monitor treatment response for patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy regimens
• Apply CTCAE toxicity grading to assess and document treatment-related adverse events and guide clinical decision-making
• Recognize and manage chemotherapy toxicities, including neutropenic fever, mucositis, neuropathy, and infusion reactions
• Manage and access ports and central lines in accordance with clinical standards
• Assist with or perform bone marrow biopsy procedures as credentialed
• Provide patient and family education on diagnosis, treatment plans, oral oncolytic regimens, and side effect management
• Support symptom management, palliative care conversations, and goals of care discussions as appropriate
• Coordinate care across the multidisciplinary team including infusion nursing, pharmacy, social work, and referring providers
• Accurately document all clinical encounters and chemotherapy order sets within the EMR system in a timely manner
• Maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory, credentialing, and clinical documentation requirements
Required Qualifications
• Active, unrestricted Texas APRN license (or eligibility to obtain prior to start date)
• Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program
• Current national NP certification (FNP, ACNP, or AGACNP) from ANCC or AANP
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an oncology clinical setting
• Proficiency with electronic medical record systems (Epic, Cerner, or equivalent)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills within a physician-led clinical team
Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP) — strongly preferred
• Experience in hematologic malignancies, infusion center management, or bone marrow biopsy assistance
• Familiarity with chemotherapy protocols, order sets, and oncology-specific clinical pathways
• Prior experience in a multi-site or regional health system
Compensation
Base Salary: $130,000 annually
Sign-On Bonus: $25,000
Additional Compensation: Annual performance-based bonus
