Hematologist/Oncologist

The Miami VA Healthcare System is seeking a Hematologist/Oncologist to provide comprehensive care to both outpatient and inpatient Veterans. Responsibilities

• Provide state-of-the-art outpatient care to hematology/oncology patients, including new consultations, initiation and management of chemotherapy, and follow-up care

• Manage chronic medical problems and preventive medicine specific to hematology/oncology patients

• Provide consultative care to inpatients with hematology/oncology problems, including initiating and managing chemotherapy

• Participate in the training of medical students, residents, and fellows on the hematology service

• Promote an atmosphere of efficiency and accuracy in the timeliness of completed documents

• Support research activities in the Section

• Actively participate in academic activities, including teaching and mentorship

• Engage in research and clinical trials in collaboration with University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center

Compensation

• Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) authorized, with an award amount up to $200,000 and eligibility period of one to five years

• Possible $1,000 per year CME reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)

Shift & Schedule

• Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:30pm

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship

• Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from a VA-approved school

• Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia

• Completion of residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty Hematology/Oncology Residency Training Program, leading to eligibility for board certification

• Proficiency in spoken and written English

• Board Certified in Hematology/Oncology is required

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology/Oncology (Preferred Experience)
