Job Description
Pharmacist Clinical Specialist- Outpatient Oncology/Hematology SUMMARY The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist (CPS) is a licensed pharmacist who is responsible for applying knowledge, skill, competence and clinical expertise in a specialized area of pharmacy.
The CPS has primary accountability for promoting excellence in pharmacy practice and medication use.
The roles of the CPS are that of advanced practitioner, educator, consultant, leader and researcher.
The CPS applies his/her knowledge of, and clinical training in, pharmacotherapy to directly influence and impact physician prescribing to improve the use of medications throughout the Health System and to enhance positive drug therapy outcomes.
The CPS, acting as an integral member of the healthcare team, assumes responsibility for the appropriate selection and monitoring of drug therapy through direct patient care activities.
Other functions include precepting pharmacy doctoral-level pharmacy students, training pharmacy residents, participating in staff development, creating opportunities for pharmacists to practice more clinically and promote rational and cost-effective use of medication at GHS.
QUALIFICATIONS Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from anACPE - accredited School of Pharmacy,licensure or license eligible in the State of Georgia within 120 days Completion ofASHP -accredited PGY-1 and PGY-2 Residencies in Hematology/Oncology (or five (5)years post PGY-1 residency experience) BPSBoard Cerfificationpreferred
