Job Description Position Overview Gateway Behavioral Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join our team as a full-time Mental Health Counselor.
This role is vital in providing high-quality outpatient therapy services to individuals and families facing the challenges of cancer diagnoses.

- Work Environment This remote position allows for flexibility while enabling you to work collaboratively with our outpatient office located in Los Angeles, California.
You will have the opportunity to connect with patients through both telemedicine and in-person sessions, providing a comprehensive approach to mental health care.

Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans based on the assessment tools and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). Monitor and evaluate patient progress continually; implementing targeted interventions to enhance treatment efficacy and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all clinical encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes using our state-of-the-art electronic health record system.
Foster collaboration among patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care that aligns with patient-centered goals.
Educate patients and their families about treatment options and coping strategies, contributing to better mental health outcomes.
- Provide mentorship and training opportunities for students and interns, passing on your knowledge and best practices in clinical social work.
Participate in peer reviews and clinical collaborations, contributing to the ongoing professional development of your colleagues.
Patient Population / Client Focus Your primary focus will be individuals and families affected by cancer, navigating the emotional and psychological complexities associated with the diagnosis.
You will work to instill hope, provide psychosocial support, and facilitate coping mechanisms, ensuring that each patient feels understood and valued.
Your expertise will contribute to creating tailored interventions that respect cultural diversity and individual preferences.
Qualifications A Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
A current and valid LCSW license in the state of California.
Proficiency in mental health assessment tools and treatment methodologies tailored to various patient needs.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills with an emphasis on empathy and active listening.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate documentation while managing a caseload.
A capacity for physical movement including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds when necessary.
Preferred Experience A minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience, preferably within an outpatient setting serving cancer patients.
Experience in developing and implementing evidence-based treatment plans.
Familiarity with telehealth technologies and remote counseling practices.
Previous involvement in professional development activities or peer mentorship.
Compensation and Benefits The position offers an attractive salary range of $90,000 to $105,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Additionally, we provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, paid parental leave, holiday time off, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). A sign-on bonus is also available to qualified candidates.
