Radiation Therapist

Under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist and in collaboration with other members of the health care team, uses clinical skills to accurately simulate on CT simulators, deliver, verify and record routine courses of treatment. Assumes shift accountability including machine warm-ups. Accurately performs routine radiation treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Assumes shift accountability for maintenance of quality services. Accurately simulate basic treatment fields (3-D planning) in a timely manner and collects all pertinent simulation information as well as entering pertinent information in the approved departmental and hospital based record and verify system. Cuts blocks for treatment if required.

Respectfully identifies the educational needs of patients and family members/students/health care professionals and implements appropriate teaching strategies or makes appropriate referrals.

Cleans, disinfects and maintains supplies and equipment in the treatment and simulation rooms. When time permits thoroughly cleans and straightens control area and treatment/simulation rooms.

Required to have one call weekend per calendar year if available at site

Required Vocational/Technical a related field; graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Program

Preferred Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a related field

CRT-Radiation Therapist - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist 60 Days required

CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or

CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC client 90 Days required
