- Oncology and Investigation Drug Services position at WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals. This role directs the provision of pharmaceutical care in WVU Hospitals and is based in Morgantown, West Virginia (Address: 1 Medical Center Drive, Morgantown, West Virginia). The work environment is a standard pharmacy and office environment and the role participates in the department's administrative on-call system. Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40. Shift: Exempt (United States of America (Exempt)).
### Licensure and education expectations
You must possess a current license as required by the state board where services will be provided or be license eligible. Licensure must be completed within 100 days of hire:
- WV: Pharmacist license through the West Virginia State Board of Pharmacy
- PA: Pharmacist license through the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy
- MD: Pharmacist license through the Maryland Board of Pharmacy
- OH: Pharmacist license through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy
Important notes while waiting on licensure: you may not practice pharmacy under West Virginia law and may not be allowed within the licensed pharmacy area without direct and guided supervision of a licensed pharmacist. You may not function as a Pharmacist-in
- Charge or perform any function of a practicing pharmacist. Incumbents will refrain from engaging in any responsibilities that necessitate a pharmacist's license until they have obtained full licensure.
Preferred additional education and credentials include Master of Business Administration, Master of Health Administration, Master of Science in Health
- System Pharmacy Administration, or Master in Public Health, and Board Certification in a clinical pharmacy specialty.
### Experience requirements (preserved exactly)
Candidates must meet one of the following combinations of experience:
- Completion of a health-system pharmacy administration residency program AND 4 years of administrative experience OR
- Completion of a non-health-system pharmacy administration residency program AND 5 years of administrative experience OR
- Seven years inpatient and/or health-system pharmacy administrative experience.
Preferred experience also includes foundation knowledge in retail pharmacy and specific knowledge of 340B.
### What you will do day to day
This position directs comprehensive drug distribution systems and clinical pharmacy services, promotes a climate for the safe, effective, rational, and cost effective use of medications across WVUH and clinics/practices, and serves as secretary of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. The director is the primary contact for interdepartmental communication and participates in the Leadership Forum.
You will develop goals and plans for the future direction of the Department, promote professional development of staff, and be responsible for the development of the annual Performance Improvement Plan for the department. Encouraging the use of Total Quality Management techniques and promoting programs that stress cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality are part of the role.
This role serves as the primary line of communication between the administration of the WVU School of Pharmacy and the Department, acts as program director and preceptor for Pharmacy Practice Residents, and provides didactic instruction in the School of Pharmacy. You will utilize key financial and productivity tools to manage and allocate department resources, identify and work to rectify budget variances, and participate in the department's administrative on-call system. Finally, you will develop, supervise, and coordinate all activities of the pharmacy department and pharmacy services.
For facilities with specialty accreditation requirements: completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards is required. Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, In-services, and competency validation.
### Physical demands and skills
The physical demands include the ability to stand and walk short distances for eight or more hours, frequent bending, stooping or stretching, the ability to lift 30 pounds and push 50 pounds. Candidates should have the ability to work under stressful working conditions.
