Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to lead and enhance the delivery of nursing care in our oncology department. This role is crucial in ensuring that patient care is effective, safe, and aligned with our high standards.
Position Requirements:
• Hold a nursing diploma or degree from an accredited college or university.
• Possess a valid nursing license in the state of Tennessee.
• Have a minimum of three years of experience in Medical/Surgical Nursing within an acute care setting.
• Obtain a Bachelor's Degree within four years of hiring.
• Exhibit strong leadership qualities with excellent communication skills.
• Complete certification and course requirements for specialty within designated timeframes as per policy.
Workplace Experience:
Experience in a Medical/Surgical environment is essential.
Equipment and Skills Training:
Familiarity with standard patient care equipment is necessary. The ability to thrive under pressure, function both dependently and independently, and apply nursing knowledge flexibly across various settings is crucial. Basic knowledge of general equipment and proficiency with the Network computer system, Omnicell Medication System, and Meditech Order Entry Computer System is required.
Physical Environment:
This position is located on the 6th Floor Nursing and Oncology Units, catering to patients ranging from infants to those over ninety-nine years of age.
Physical Effort:
• Effective verbal and written communication in English.
• Ability to stand and work for up to twelve hours a day.
• Capable of lifting, with assistance, weights up to 250 lbs.
Key Responsibilities:
As the Director, you will:
• Organize, direct, and administer nursing services to meet evolving medical and nursing standards while ensuring efficient unit operations.
• Maintain quality assessment and improvement activities in patient care and patient safety.
• Engage with Administration regarding departmental activities and issues, providing accurate information.
• Participate in policy formulation affecting services and ensure the implementation of procedures.
• Collaborate in the annual budgeting process, utilizing feedback from physicians and staff for resource planning.
• Implement cost control measures to maximize funding effectiveness and address any variances.
• Oversee the employee selection, training, staff development processes, and performance evaluations.
• Coordinate and monitor staffing to align with productivity and budget goals.
• Ensure the maintenance of professional relationships with all stakeholders, including patients, families, healthcare professionals, and community groups.
• Contribute to hospital-wide process improvement activities.
• Work alongside the Healthcare Team to ensure compliance with JCAHO standards.
• Take responsibility for communications related to assigned duties.
