Role Description The Director of Advancement is a full-time, on-site role located in Salt Lake City, UT, responsible for leading and implementing comprehensive fundraising and engagement strategies for both The Cathedral of the Madeleine and The Madeleine Choir School. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing annual giving campaigns, managing donor stewardship activities, and coordinating major and planned giving initiatives. The Director will cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, alumni, parishioners, and community partners, and prepare compelling proposals, reports, and communication materials. This role also includes planning and executing advancement events, collaborating with leadership and staff to align fundraising priorities with institutional goals, and monitoring budget and revenue targets. The Director of Advancement will supervise relevant advancement staff or volunteers and ensure that all activities support the mission and values of the Cathedral and Choir School.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in Annual Giving and donor stewardship, with the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate annual fundraising campaigns.
- Knowledge of Planned Giving and Philanthropy practices, including the capacity to identify, cultivate, and solicit major and legacy gifts.
- Background in Alumni Relations, including engaging alumni through communications, events, and volunteer opportunities to strengthen long-term support.
- Experience designing and managing comprehensive Stewardship programs that acknowledge, recognize, and retain donors at all giving levels.
- Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including donors, families, parishioners, and community partners.
- Proficiency in fundraising databases, CRM systems, and basic office software; ability to use data to inform strategy and measure outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as nonprofit management, communications, business, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven organizational and project management skills, including attention to detail, time management, and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience in faith-based, educational, or arts organizations is highly beneficial, with an understanding of mission-driven work.
- Ability to work on-site, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality in all advancement activities.
