Deputy Division Head Clinical Research, Anesthesiology, Critical Care & Pain Medicine

MD Anderson is seeking a highly accomplished investigator or physician-scientist to serve as the Deputy Division Head of Clinical Research within the Division of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine. In this vital leadership role, you will oversee the division's clinical science mission, guide strategic growth in multi-center clinical trials and pain management, and mentor faculty, fellows, and residents. You will collaborate closely with department leadership to reinforce a culture of excellence, innovation, and impactful clinical research.

Responsibilities

• Hold overarching responsibility for the strategy and oversight of the Division's clinical science mission

• Grow research in key areas such as multi-center clinical trials, pain management, opioid research, inflammation, and peri-operative clinical research

• Lead a team of coordinators and a statistician in close coordination with departmental Chairs and Deputy Chairs of Research

• Oversee resource allocation, space administration, and the integration of clinical research infrastructure

• Mentor faculty, fellows, and residents

• Reinforce a culture of excellence, innovation, and experimentation

Requirements

• M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. required

• Extensive history of successful clinical research demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, funding history, and experience leading large or multicenter clinical trials

• Demonstrated executive leadership roles in a productive, complex research institution or academic medical center

• Experience in the administration of an academic research enterprise with responsibilities related to budgets, grants management, program development, data, and informatics

• Successful experience attracting, retaining, and developing high-performing individuals and teams

• Recognized achievement in research pursuits that warrants appointment as a tenured associate professor or professor

• Appropriate board certification, with additional degrees, certification, or licensure additive

• Strong communication skills and a can-do ethos

• Open to visa sponsorship
