About the position
Labcorp is seeking a Cytotechnologist to join our team at Henry Ford St John Hospital in Gross Pointe Woods, MI . \nWork Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm\nJob Responsibilities \nScreen and evaluate any gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens sent to the laboratory for the determination of possible malignant or related abnormal conditions \nScreening of all liquid based cytology, both manual and imaged, as well as conventional slides \nPerform microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens following laboratory procedures and policies \nEnsure proper documentation of workload recording, including screening and non-screening activities as required by CLIA and laboratory guidelines \nMaintain absolute integrity in the accurate performance and reporting of results \nMeet slide screening requirements as per standard operating procedure \nFinalize testing results into the computer in an accurate and timely manner \nProvide backup for cytology processing and other tasks as needed \nComply with all safety, infection control and HIPAA policies \nMinimum Qualifications \nBachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Cytology Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology \nCompletion of a Cytology program \nASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification \nPreferred Qualifications \nMasters’ degree in Cytology \n3 months or more of Cytology experience \nThinPrep and SurePath certifications \nAdditional Job Standards \nAble to pass slide screening requirements and annual CAP proficiency test \nDemonstrated understanding of Cyto preparation techniques \nAutomated and non-automated testing experience \nUnderstanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures \nExperience in a high volume clinical laboratory environment \nAbility to work independently and within a team environment \nProficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems \nHigh level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills \nAbility to handle the physical requirements of the position \nAble to pass a standardized color blindness test \nFlexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs \nAt Labcorp we have a passion for helping people live happy and healthy lives. Responsibilities

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Cytology Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• Completion of a Cytology program
• ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification
• Able to pass slide screening requirements and annual CAP proficiency test
• Demonstrated understanding of Cyto preparation techniques
• Automated and non-automated testing experience
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience in a high volume clinical laboratory environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
