The Critical Care Resource & Vascular Access Nurse Specialist oversees and coordinates daily clinical and operational activities in the assigned area, collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team including providers, nursing and ancillary staff. This role plays a key part in ensuring efficient patient flow, resource readiness, quality outcomes, and exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
• Arranges, manages and facilitates the sequencing of procedures and verifies that clinical resources are available and properly prepared, including equipment, supplies and the appropriate personnel for the procedure.
• Manages day-to-day departmental/unit operational flow and allocation of resources.
• Manages day-to-day staffing needs of the area to ensure the unit is able to meet patient care needs.
• Provides leadership in quality metrics for the assigned area.
• Uses advanced knowledge and critical thinking skills to perform the parts of the nursing process.
This position is per diem and ideal for a nursing professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at coordinating clinical operations, and is passionate about ensuring patients receive high-quality, efficient care.
Starting hourly rate is $58.92 and the actual compensation offered may vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
License and Certification Requirement
• License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York; and
• Certification or eligibility for Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time nursing experience in an oncology support setting; or
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time nursing experience in an acute care support setting; or
• Associate’s degree in Nursing and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time nursing experience in an oncology support setting; or
• Associate’s degree in Nursing and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time nursing experience in an acute care support setting.
Note
• Incumbents must obtain and maintain applicable certification, as required by area of specialty, within eighteen (18) months of appointment to this position as a condition of continued employment in this title.
• As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within six (6) months of their appointment to this title.
• Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have four or more years of oncology and/or intensive care unit (ICU) nursing experience and a current CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) certification.
