Job Description
Position Summary/Department Summary
This full-time Clinical Social Worker position is part of a vibrant, multidisciplinary team within the Division of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. As part of our robust mental health team, the social worker will play a key role in the outpatient Primary Care clinic, delivering clinical care, crisis intervention, and case coordination to adolescents and young adults in a fast-paced medical setting.
Key Responsibilities
• Conducting psychosocial diagnostic evaluations
• Delivering ongoing individual and group psychotherapy using evidence-based approaches
• At least one 4-hour shift per week of crisis intervention and suicide risk assessment as part of the clinic’s mental health on-call service (during business hours)
• Supporting patients and families through care coordination, service navigation, collaboration with multidisciplinary care teams, resource identification, referrals, and crisis intervention as needed
• Collaborating closely with medical, nutrition, and mental health colleagues as part of an interdisciplinary care team
• Opportunities to contribute to program development and project leadership, participate in quality improvement and research initiatives, and to teach as faculty in the Leadership Education in Adolescent Health Fellowship program within the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine, commensurate with interest and experience
Education
Minimum Qualifications
• Master’s degree in social work
Experience:
• Prior clinical experience working with adolescents/young adults and/or in a medical setting strongly preferred. Familiarity with providing in behavioral health services a plus
• Spanish language fluency strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to provide expert clinical assessment and therapeutic care to medically and psychiatrically complex patients
• Knowledge and experience with Massachusetts-based human services and community resources
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail, flexibility, and the capacity to thrive in a collaborative, team-based environment
• Ability to work in a hybrid model, including access to a private space for behavioral health visits. Onsite presence at Boston Children's Hospital is required at least two days per week
• Availability to work at minimum one evening per week
Licensure
• MA LCSW required, MA LICSW preferred

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
