Position Summary
The Department of Psychiatry of the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine at Chapel Hill is seeking a full-time clinical psychologist to join its Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) cancer program. This is an Open Rank fixed term faculty position. This clinical service is a core component of the AYA program which is part of the UNC Comprehensive Cancer Support Program (CCSP).
The mission of the CCSP is to deliver exceptional clinical care to patients at the N.C. Basnight Cancer Hospital and other venues served by the School of Medicine and UNC Cancer Care.
This position will provide therapeutic support to AYA patients and their families who receive cancer care person in this position will also have research opportunities in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical research at the interface of oncology and mental health. In addition, the AYA program will provide training to UNC Health professionals and students who work with patients with cancer.
The successful candidate should have strong psychological clinical skills and a record of scholarly achievement (including peer-reviewed publications and research experience). We are particularly interested in candidates with an established record of extramural research funding, leadership skills, and a demonstrated ability to promote a collegial environment that fosters ongoing collaboration.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
• Ph.D. or Psy.
D. in Clinical Psychology
• APA-approved internship and APPIC-approved fellowship
• Eligibility for psychologist licensure in the state of North Carolina and credentials for independent practice in the State of North Carolina
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
• Special consideration will be given to candidates with advanced training or prior experience in health service psychology, oncology, or AYA care.
