General Description:

The Manager of Pharmacy - Clinical is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and oversight of clinical pharmacy services across OU Health. This role ensures the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based, and cost‑effective medication therapy management through clinical program development, staff leadership, interdisciplinary collaboration, and alignment with regulatory and accreditation standards to support optimal patient outcomes.

• Provides leadership and oversight for clinical pharmacy services, including therapeutic drug monitoring, clinical pathways, formulary management, pharmacoeconomics, and outcomes‑focused initiatives.
• Establishes, coordinates, implements, and evaluates clinical pharmacy programs to ensure alignment with organizational goals, best practices, and patient care standards.
• Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and practice standards for clinical pharmacy services in compliance with The Joint Commission, Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
• Serves as a pharmacy representative and subject matter expert on assigned committees, including the Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committee and other multidisciplinary committees as designated.
• Collaborates with physicians, nursing leadership, and other healthcare professionals to optimize medication use, clinical decision‑making, and patient outcomes.
• Serves as a liaison to the OU College of Pharmacy for experiential education, residency programs, and academic partnerships.
• Facilitates the development and maintenance of systems, workflows, and clinical decision‑support tools that promote safe, appropriate, and cost‑effective medication therapy.
• Supervises clinical pharmacy staff, including interviewing, hiring, coaching, performance management, and corrective action as necessary.
• Supports professional development of staff through delegation, mentoring, ongoing feedback, and completion of performance evaluations.
• Provides education and guidance to pharmacists, nurses, advanced practice providers, physicians, and administrators regarding clinical pharmacy practices, policies, and procedures.
• Develops, monitors, and reports key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure clinical pharmacy service effectiveness, quality, and impact on patient outcomes.
• Ensures compliance with applicable pharmacy laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.

General Responsibilities:

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (D.Ph.) degree required.

Experience: At least three (3) years of progressive leadership experience required.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Licensure as a Pharmacist by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy required. Applicants without an active Oklahoma Pharmacist License must obtain licensure within 90 days of hire. Certificate as a preceptor by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy within 18 months of hire.

• Advanced knowledge of clinical pharmacy practice, medication therapy management, and evidence‑based treatment guidelines.
• In‑depth understanding of pharmacy laws, regulations, accreditation requirements, and professional practice standards.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach, and develop clinical pharmacy staff.
• Strong management skills, including planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating clinical programs and services.
• Ability to achieve targeted clinical and operational outcomes in a complex, interdisciplinary healthcare environment.
• Knowledge of safe handling practices and use of personal protective equipment related to hazardous and cytotoxic medications.
• Strong commitment to service excellence, patient‑centered care, and clinical quality.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship‑building skills.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and project management abilities.
• Ability to adapt to evolving clinical practices and organizational priorities while maintaining quality and safety standards.
