## Clinical Pharmacist Specialist – Oncology at Unity Hospital

Join Rochester Regional Health's Inpatient Pharmacy team at Unity Hospital as a full-time Clinical Pharmacist Specialist in Oncology. This Monday through Friday role, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, offers an opportunity to provide advanced clinical pharmacy services and ensure rational, appropriate drug therapy across the health system.

### What You'll Do

As a specialist, you'll apply a broad depth of pharmacotherapy knowledge and strong clinical skills to independent decision-making—including drug therapy selection—while collaborating with health system colleagues on patient care and medication consultations. You'll develop, recommend, and monitor therapeutic plans, participate in bedside patient care rounds, and serve on multidisciplinary teams to create protocols, order sets, and critical pathways that optimize outcomes. Additional responsibilities include leading drug quality programs, drug usage evaluations, and research, with opportunities to present findings at local or national professional meetings. You'll also respond to complex drug information requests by evaluating primary literature and incorporating it into formulary reviews and care decisions, and work with pharmacy management to implement policies ensuring compliance with state and federal law, accrediting bodies, and National Patient Safety Goals. Detecting, preventing, monitoring, documenting, and reporting adverse drug events and medication errors is key, as is responding to patient care urgencies and emergencies within your expertise. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.

### Teaching and Professional Growth

You'll take a leadership role in educating prescribers, pharmacists, and nursing staff through formal programs and informal sessions, and precept pharmacy interns and residents. A commitment to continuous learning is expected—attend at least one national professional meeting each year to enhance critical thinking and problem-solving. Other duties as assigned.

### Qualifications and Licensure

To qualify, you must have completed a residency or fellowship training, OR hold Board certification through the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties. (If not yet board-certified, you may work toward certification on a timeline agreed with your supervisor.) Licensure as a Pharmacist in New York State is required. This role also involves light physical demands: frequent standing and walking, occasional lifting of light objects (≤20 lbs.), and routine reaching, grasping, and fine manipulation. Strong visual and auditory acuity are needed for tasks such as monitoring patients, reading instrumentation, and communicating with care teams. You should be comfortable multitasking, prioritizing workflows, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced clinical environment. Emotional resilience is important due to frequent interruptions and shifting priorities. Environmental exposures may include infectious materials, biological specimens, cleaning agents, sharps, chemical reagents, and wet surfaces; PPE use, TB testing, and schedule flexibility are commonly required.

### Compensation and Benefits

Pay range: $130,000.00 – $176,800.00 per year. Base pay is determined by experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts. Additional pay components may be available. Rochester Regional Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diversity.
