Position Overview

An independent, physician-led multi-specialty medical group near Walnut Creek is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Clinical Pharmacist to join its outpatient care team. This role is ideal for a practitioner who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and excels in sterile compounding, clinical regimen review, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities
• Clinical Review & Protocol Verification: Conduct thorough clinical evaluations of complex treatment and supportive care plans to confirm they are evidence-based, medically appropriate, and accurately dosed. Verify regimen selections, premedications, routes of administration, and treatment intervals against established guidelines.
• Sterile & Hazardous Compounding: Check, admix, and prepare medication orders in strict accordance with OSHA standards, interoffice policies, and manufacturer specifications. Perform precise dosing calculations, confirming final volumes, base solutions, and drug concentrations prior to dispensing.
• Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance: Maintain full adherence to USP <797> and <800> standards, FDA regulations (including DSCSA), OSHA safety mandates, and California Business and Professions and Health and Safety Codes.
• Cleanroom & Environmental Monitoring: Oversee environmental safety by tracking cleanroom and storage temperature logs, managing biological safety cabinet maintenance, and directing the proper handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
• Patient Care & Provider Consultation: Educate patients on medication management, potential side effects, and interaction risks (including dietary and alcohol precautions). Provide expert drug information and clinical guidance to physicians and clinical personnel, while supporting staff in-service programs.
• Technician Supervision: Direct daily pharmacy technician workflows, auditing order entries, charge accuracy, inventory logs, compounding techniques, and final product labeling.
• Operational & Formulary Strategy: Partner with leadership and interdisciplinary teams to evaluate drug utilization, implement quarterly formulary updates, identify rebate and cost-containment opportunities, and collaborate with billing/authorizations to support payor-compliant, cost-effective therapy choices.
• Inventory & Admixture Workflow: Verify patient insurance authorizations prior to compounding. Audit incoming pharmaceutical shipments, manage stock levels, handle temperature excursions, and maintain precise drug inventory logs.
• Additional Duties: Perform other clinical or operational tasks as assigned to support clinic workflows.

Qualifications & Requirements
• Cleanroom & Compounding Expertise: Hands-on experience with sterile compounding and cleanroom operations (USP <797>/<800>) is required.
• Oncology Experience: Clinical oncology and chemotherapy preparation experience is strongly preferred (and makes candidates eligible for relocation consideration).
• Licensure: Active, unencumbered Pharmacist license in the state of California.
• Skills: Strong clinical judgment, high mathematical precision, excellent communication abilities, and a strong commitment to patient safety and quality standards.
