Role Description The Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) will provide on-site industrial hygiene support at client facilities in Seattle, WA and other possible job sites under a contract engagement. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting exposure assessments for chemical, physical, and biological agents; performing workplace inspections; and recommending control measures to reduce risk. The CIH will collect and interpret sampling data, prepare clear technical reports, and communicate findings and corrective actions to client stakeholders. The role involves ensuring alignment with applicable OSHA, NIOSH, and other regulatory standards, assisting with program development and updates, and supporting incident investigations as needed. The CIH will collaborate with safety professionals, operations staff, and management to promote a strong culture of health and safety while adhering to project timelines and quality requirements.

Qualifications


- Certification as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or strong progress toward CIH credentials, with demonstrated expertise in industrial hygiene principles and practices.
- Proficiency in exposure assessment methods, including air and noise monitoring, sampling strategies, data analysis, and interpretation of results.
- Solid understanding of OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, and related standards, with experience applying regulatory and best-practice guidelines in workplace settings.
- Ability to develop and implement practical controls, including engineering controls, administrative measures, and personal protective equipment recommendations.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills for preparing reports, protocols, and corrective action plans that are clear and client-focused.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities, including working with cross-functional teams, presenting findings, and engaging with workers and management.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, Safety, or a closely related field.
- Experience conducting field work in industrial, healthcare, laboratory, or construction environments; ability to work safely in varied on-site conditions.
- Attention to detail, sound professional judgment, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a contract consulting context.
- Proficiency with common industrial hygiene instruments and relevant software tools; familiarity with data management and report templates.
