Breast Surgeon

The Department of Surgery at The University of Wisconsin is seeking an exceptional academic surgeon with a clinical practice focused in Breast Surgery to join our Division of Surgical Oncology. The selected candidate will evaluate and manage benign and malignant disease of the breast while engaging with a cohesive, multidisciplinary team of specialists. This full-time position offers the opportunity to contribute to clinical excellence, education, and research within an established program at University Hospital and Eastpark Medical Center.

Practice Info

• Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of Wisconsin includes 15 full-time academic faculty surgeons

• Division is comprised of two sections: Gastrointestinal Oncology and Breast/Cutaneous Oncology

• Division includes 9 advanced practice providers who provide inpatient, outpatient, and OR support

• Section of Breast and Cutaneous Oncology includes six surgeons and three independent, highly functioning Advanced Practice Providers

• Clinical practice will primarily occur at University Hospital and Eastpark Medical Center

• On call services for breast and cutaneous oncology patients is shared among our Breast and Cutaneous Oncology section faculty

Responsibilities

• Elective inpatient and outpatient practice will primarily occur at University Hospital and Eastpark Medical Center

• Teach medical students, residents, and fellows

• Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health

• Work in a collegial relationship with other faculty members

• Support for research and/or programmatic participation/development will also be considered

Shift & Schedule

• This position is full time

Requirements

• MD, DO, or Equivalent is required

• Candidate is required to have a Wisconsin medical license by the appointment start date

• Board certification or board eligibility from the American Board of Surgery, American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, or equivalent is required by the appointment start date

• Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges by the appointment start date

• Completion of a fellowship in Surgical Oncology and/or Breast Surgery by appointment start date is strongly preferred

• Completion of a breast surgery or surgical oncology fellowship is strongly preferred but not required

• For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track

• For an appointment at Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track
