Biology Laboratory Researcher

Focus Area: Ocular Research and Biological Tissue Testing

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Biology Laboratory Researcher to support laboratory-based sample analysis, experimental testing, and data collection involving biological materials, including animal-derived ocular tissue such as porcine eyes.

The researcher will work closely with the research team to execute guided experiments, develop or adapt experimental setups, process samples, collect reliable data, and document results. This position is suitable for a laboratory professional who is comfortable working directly with biological tissues and performing detailed experimental activities in an onsite test laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform laboratory experiments involving biological samples, cell cultures, tissues, and ocular models.
• Handle, prepare, process, and analyze animal-derived ocular tissue, including porcine eye samples.
• Conduct sample preparation and testing using laboratory pipettors, well plates, balances, microscopes, and other standard biology laboratory equipment.
• Execute experimental protocols under the guidance of research scientists or technical leads.
• Support the design, prototyping, assembly, and refinement of experimental test setups.
• Record experimental observations, test conditions, sample information, and results accurately and consistently.
• Collect, organize, review, and summarize experimental data using appropriate data analysis tools.
• Identify unusual observations, experimental variations, or data quality concerns and communicate them to the project team.
• Maintain laboratory work areas, equipment, samples, and documentation in accordance with applicable laboratory procedures and safety requirements.

Required Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's or master’s degree in biology, Cell Biology, Biomedical Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related life science discipline.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience working in a biology, biomedical, academic research, or industrial test laboratory.
• Practical experience using pipettors, multiwell plates, laboratory instruments, and standard sample-processing techniques.
• Strong experimental execution skills with the ability to follow protocols and produce reliable, traceable results.
• Experience with cell culture, tissue handling, dissection, biological sample processing, or ex vivo testing.
• Experience working with ocular tissue, ocular models, ophthalmic research, or vision science applications.
• Experience prototyping or modifying experimental fixtures, test methods, or laboratory setups.
• Familiarity with experimental data analysis, interpretation, graphing, and technical report preparation.
• Previous experience in a medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or contract research laboratory environment.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting biological research, preclinical testing, or laboratory development activities.
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety practices and sample handling procedures.
• Experience working with microscopy and biological imaging systems.
• Ability to manage multiple experiments and priorities in a fast-paced research environment.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Position Details
• Work Arrangement: Onsite, five days per week
• Location: Irvine, California
• Expected Start: As soon as possible, subject to final approval
• Expected Duration: Through approximately the middle of 2027, subject to project approval and business requirements

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range Minimum: $40.0 per hour

Pay Range Maximum: $48.00 per hour

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their work location, skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
