Biology Contractor
Our Cambridge based biotechnology client is seeking an experienced biologist to join their research team on a contract basis. This role offers the opportunity to help advance a novel therapeutic platform aimed at addressing serious diseases with significant unmet patient need.
The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in cell-based assay development, mammalian cell culture, and molecular biology techniques, along with a demonstrated ability to generate high-quality data in a collaborative, fast-paced research environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, optimize, and execute cell-based screening assays in 2D and 3D cellular models
- Evaluate therapeutic activity and mechanism of action using a variety of assay platforms, including target engagement, reporter-based, proliferation, and biomarker assays
- Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data to cross-functional teams
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and experimental documentation
- Collaborate closely with research colleagues to support discovery and development programs
Qualifications
- B.S. in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with 6+ years of industry experience, or M.S. with 4+ years of industry experience
- Strong background in high-throughput cellular assay development, optimization, and quantitative data analysis
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, including cancer cell lines, primary cells, and/or 3D organoid models
- Experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques such as qPCR, ELISA, western blotting, immunoassays, and protein interaction assays
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Preferred Experience
- Oncology research experience
- Exposure to target engagement or mechanism-of-action studies
- Experience supporting drug discovery programs within biotech or pharmaceutical settings
