Attorney (Insurance Defense & Commercial Litigation )

Senior Associate / Counsel – Insurance Coverage & Defense - TWO positions:

1) Mid to Senior level - 4-8 years.

2) Senior level - 8+ years

Location: Texas (Remote) - preferably Austin, Dallas or Houston

A growing national law firm is seeking two attorneys for its insurance defense and complex litigation practice in Texas - 1) a highly experienced mid to senior level associate / counsel and a 2)
Senior Counsel - to join its Insurance Coverage & Defense Practice. This is an outstanding opportunity for a seasoned attorney looking for a sophisticated, client-facing role with significant responsibility and autonomy.

The group is looking for experienced insurance coverage litigation attorneys (or complex litigation for the more senior role ) who can independently manage a complex caseload from inception through resolution without supervision. This is not a training position. We are looking for someone who is comfortable making strategic litigation decisions, advising clients directly, and serving as a trusted extension of sophisticated insurance clients, and navigating the Texas courts at all levels, through trial.






Responsibilities


- Independently manage all phases of complex insurance coverage and defense matters from initial evaluation through resolution, including trial and appeal where appropriate.
- Analyze and advise insurers on first-party and third-party coverage issues under a variety of commercial and personal lines policies.
- Draft comprehensive coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, denial letters, and other coverage analyses.
- Handle declaratory judgment actions, bad faith litigation, breach of contract claims, and extra-contractual exposure.
- Manage complex litigation, including pleadings, written discovery, depositions, expert discovery, dispositive motions, mediations, and trial preparation.
- Develop litigation strategy, evaluate risk, and provide practical, business-oriented advice to insurance carrier clients.
- Communicate directly with clients, claims professionals, and opposing counsel while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Mentor junior attorneys and collaborate with colleagues on litigation strategy as appropriate.


Qualifications


- 4-8 years of insurance defense and/or insurance coverage litigation experience.
- 8+ years of complex litigation or insurance defense and/or insurance coverage litigation experience.
- Demonstrated experience handling sophisticated first-party and third-party insurance coverage matters.
- Strong knowledge of coverage analysis, policy interpretation, declaratory judgment actions, and bad faith litigation.
- Significant deposition, mediation, and motion practice experience.
- Trial experience .
- Exceptional legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to independently manage a substantial caseload while consistently delivering excellent client service.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple high-exposure matters.
- Licensed and in good standing in Texas.
- Ability to work at all levels without supervision
