Job Description
Under the direction of the Chair of the Division of Hematology and Oncology, the Attending Physician at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County Health performs professional medical, educational, and research activities. This expert provides comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, and electronic consultative care for patients with cancer and hematological conditions. The physician also supervises trainees and participates in clinical trials to investigate innovative treatment strategies.

Responsibilities
• Provides inpatient, outpatient, and consultative care in oncology and/or hematology and supervising trainees throughout CCH.
• Sets standards and ensures the provision of consistent high-quality care to patients with hematology and oncology disorders by educating, assisting, and guiding primary care physicians.
• Supervises and trains hematology/oncology subspecialty fellows, rotating residents, and medical students.
• Supervises and collaborates with hematology/oncology nurse clinicians.
• Supervises Infusion Center chemotherapy nursing staff.
• Maintains accurate medical records and accurate and timely completion of billing encounter forms.
• Participates in the division performance improvement program and departmental and hospital performance improvement activities.
• Attends meetings and participates on committees as assigned.

Shift & Schedule
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
Requirements
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy Medicine (DO) from an accredited college or university is required
• Licensed as a Physician and Surgeon in the State of Illinois prior to starting employment is required
• Must be cleared for privileges by Medical Staff Services by start of employment is required
• Board certification by American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in a Hematology or Oncology subspecialty or Board eligibility in a pathway leading to certification in Hematology or Oncology specialty board within two (2) years of starting employment is required
• Experience with participation in NCI sponsored clinical trials is preferred
• Must be able to travel to work sites throughout Cook County
