Associate Director / Director, MSLs

The Associate Director / Director, MSLs is responsible for the leadership, direction and management of MSLs in the region and works collaboratively with the Medical Affairs Senior Management in strategic and tactical planning, supporting clinical studies across the product portfolio. Works closely with direct reports in the field, Medical Directors, and external customers to gain an understanding of the scientific landscape and to communicate information to key internal stakeholders. Provides all direct reports with individualized development plans and ongoing performance feedback. Assists other managers (Associate Directors) with leadership competency criteria, including performance management assessments of their MSLs and promotion recommendations. Creates a culture of accountability by delivering on work commitments, holding others accountable for performance, and taking timely, decisive, and constructive actions to address individual MSL performance issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, direction and management of the MSLs within the region.

• Develop individual talent within the MSL team, including goal setting, oversight of activities, coaching, performance assessment, development, and engagement.

• Provide field‑level scientific leadership in assigned therapeutic area(s) in collaboration with home office medical colleagues.

• Collaborate effectively and compliantly with cross‑functional and alliance leadership.

• Assist other managers (Associate Directors) with leadership competency criteria, including performance management assessments of their MSLs and promotion recommendations.

• Ensure targets are clearly defined, important information is cascaded well, and accountability is driven in the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and 10+ years of relevant experience. Experience in Life Sciences industry preferred.

• Advanced degree in sciences or related field with substantial experience in the pharma/biotech industry.

• Or a combination of equivalent education and experience.

• Experience managing field‑based medical teams directly in a supervisory/leadership capacity preferred.

• Practical understanding of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, PhRMA, and other international regulatory/ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.

• Proven performance in earlier role.

• Oncology experience preferred.

• Travel required for conferences, congresses, team meetings, mentoring/training activities and KOL/HCP interactions as needed.

Salary

Associate Director, MSL salary range: $206,600 – $271,215.

Director, MSL salary range: $224,600 – $294,735.

Eisai Salary Transparency

The annual base salary range for the Associate Director or Director, Medical Science Liaison, Oncology – Central region / Field‑based is $206,600 – $271,200. The position is eligible to participate in the Eisai Inc. Annual Incentive Plan and the Eisai Inc. Long Term Incentive Plan.
