The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time tenured/tenure-track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, Research Faculty Appointment within the Department of Nursing. Position Overview
The Department of Nursing at MD Anderson defines nursing science as the discovery, advancement, and translation of knowledge into clinical practice that optimizes health and promotes well-being throughout the lifespan to address vital health needs across settings where nursing care is delivered. Nurse scientists develop symptom science, self-management science, and caregiving science to improve outcomes for patients with complex conditions.
The vision for the Department of Nursing is to create a culture of nursing scholarship. Faculty in this role will collaborate with clinicians and scientists across diverse specialties – both within and beyond the institution – to generate new knowledge that spans the continuum of care. Successful candidates will provide visionary leadership for nursing research programs, foster creativity and innovation, develop a strong research portfolio, secure competitive grant funding, and mentor junior faculty and Argyros Postdoctoral Research Fellows.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate ex pertise in nursing research, particularly in symptom management, survivorship, quality of life, and patient-centered outcomes. Applicants must have a PhD and be licensed or eligible to be licensed as a registered nurse in Texas. Early-career applicants should have completed formal postdoctoral training. Candidates with a non-nursing PhD must hold an MSN or BSN. Mid- and senior-career candidates without postdoctoral training will be considered individually. Candidates must also have a track record of scholarly productivity and extramural funding or a strong potential for extramural funding. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to advancing cancer research through rigorous scholarship are essential. Experience leading and mentoring research staff and registered nurses who engage in research activities, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to publish research in peer-reviewed journals is required.
