Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Cancer Screening and Education provides strategic and operational leadership for cancer prevention, health promotion, and screening initiatives within the FPBCC Community Outreach and Engagement ( COE ) Office. This position advances equitable cancer control efforts across Nebraska, with a particular focus on underserved, rural, and high-risk populations.
Lead the development and implementation of community engagement strategies that promote equitable access to cancer prevention, screening, education and navigation services across the FPBCC catchment area. Set priorities, goals, and targets based on catchment area data analysis in collaboration with the COE Data Analysis Unit, Catchment Area Data Committee, and Associate Director (AD) of COE .
· Build and sustain trusted partnerships with community-based organizations, tribal nations, faith-based organizations, healthcare providers, public health agencies, schools, employers, and other stakeholders to address cancer-related needs and disparities.
· Develop and maintain partnerships with healthcare systems, local health departments, community organizations, and other stakeholders to expand access to cancer education and screening services in NE in coordination with UNMC and Nebraska Medicine, when necessary.
· Facilitate bidirectional communication between FPBCC and community partners to ensure community priorities, concerns, and perspectives inform cancer center programs, research, and strategic planning.
· Support and coordinate Community Advisory Board (CAB) activities, including gathering feedback on cancer center priorities, outreach strategies, research initiatives, and dissemination of findings.
· Supervise and train community health educators and nurse navigators responsible for outreach, education, screening activities
· Provide follow-up support for individuals with abnormal screening results, including navigation to care.
· Participate in the development of external grant applications related to cancer screening, education, and prevention.
· Monitor program performance, track key metrics, and prepare monthly reports summarizing activities, outcomes, and progress toward goals.
· Direct execution of strategic plan activities related to cancer screening and education, ensuring alignment with FPBCC and COE priorities and measurable community impact.
· Serve as a member of the COE leadership team and participate in monthly Executive Committee meetings.
· Meet regularly, at least monthly, with the COE AD to review progress, address operational challenges, and ensure alignment of priorities and resources.
· Support additional FPBCC cancer prevention, early detection, and community engagement initiatives as assigned.
· Provide research support and collaboration to multiple NIH funded research projects
· Represent FPBCC at community meetings, regional coalitions, health fairs, and statewide public health initiatives to strengthen visibility and foster collaborative partnerships.
· Ensure community engagement activities align with National Cancer Institute Community Outreach and Engagement expectations and contribute to measurable reductions in cancer disparities.

Required Qualifications:
Master's in nursing, Public Health or Related Area.
Four to six years of experience in screening, community engagement, education or the like; cancer focus preferred.

Supplemental Qualifications:
Preferred PhD in Nursing, Public Health or Related Area
Ability to establish effective working relationships with executive leadership, physicians, administrative and clinical staff required.
Strong interpersonal, communication, problem solving, and negotiation skills required
Experience in cancer control, research, program management, and evaluation of programs in underserved populations
Extensive experience in collaborating with community partners to develop and deliver evidence-based public health interventions that address regional cancer health disparities
Strong communication skills

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
