Overview
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria seeks a Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist for a faculty position as Assistant/Associate Professor. The role requires 3 years of Pediatrics Residency and 3 years of Hematology/Oncology Fellowship. Candidates should be board certified or eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and hold or have applied for an Illinois physician’s license.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Provide inpatient and outpatient care for pediatric hematologic and oncologic patients, including those at the OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois Cancer and Blood Disorder Institute.
• See referral hematology/oncology consultations from the Central Illinois region.
• Assist in caring for patients with leukemia and lymphoma.
• Fully participate in teaching programs for medical students and residents, and in the department’s undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs.
• Organize and conduct bench and/or clinical research in pediatric hematology/oncology.
• Participate in cooperative research efforts and clinical trials through St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Children’s Oncology Group (COG).
• Contribute to faculty responsibilities including committee assignments, curriculum development, student counseling, and administration as required.
• Undertake additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
• MD degree or foreign equivalent.
• Eligible for Illinois Physician License.
• Board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
• Three years of Pediatrics Residency and three years of Hematology/Oncology Fellowship.
Preferred Qualifications
• Interest and experience in leukemia/lymphoma.
Benefits
The budgeted salary range for the position is $179,000 to $298,200 per year. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
