Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest as a skilled Radiation Therapist. This role involves the precise and safe administration of radiation therapy treatments, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care. You will operate advanced radiation therapy equipment, position and image patients accurately, and follow strict safety protocols to protect patients and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Administer prescribed radiation doses to targeted body areas using specialized equipment.
• Position and image patients consistently according to treatment prescriptions.
• Provide emergent care during on-call shifts.
• Document treatments, schedule appointments, and manage charges through electronic health records.
• Conduct daily operational and safety checks on linear accelerators and simulation devices.
• Adhere to radiation safety principles to protect patients, self, and others.
• Simulate patients under physician guidance and fabricate immobilization devices as needed.
• Ensure all treatment plan data is accurate and verified before therapy begins.
• Train and supervise students or junior radiotherapy technologists.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold a professional, positive demeanor.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Educate and support patients and families by answering questions and reinforcing physician guidance on treatment and post-care.
Education

Graduation from an accredited School of Radiation Therapy Technology is required.
Experience

At least one year of experience in radiation oncology is preferred. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential. Computer proficiency is a plus.
Certification and Licenses
• Registered Radiation Therapist (ARRT) certification or eligibility in Radiation Therapy.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Mental and Physical Requirements

This position demands considerable mental focus and the ability to work under stressful conditions related to patient care. Physical activities include lifting up to 60 lbs., frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
Working Conditions

Standard radiation safety hazards apply, with minimal exposure to radioactive materials. Occasional exposure to biohazards, infectious diseases, and challenging situations may occur. The role includes a flexible schedule and on-call duties as assigned.
