Applied Research Scientist I - Behavioral Oncology Research Psychologist

The Quality Of life in Oncology Lab (QOOL) is seeking a licensed (or license-eligible) psychologist to work alongside our lab’s Principal Investigators on federally-funded behavioral intervention studies as an Applied Research Scientist I (ARS I).

The ARS I is a non-tenure track researcher who serves as part of a clinical/translational research team under the general direction of an Investigator in the Population Science Research Division. Their primary activity is research and related support activities for the faculty investigator they work with.

For this position, the ARS I will contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based behavioral interventions while supporting scientific discovery, dissemination of study findings, and development of future grants. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a licensed psychologist to apply their clinical expertise within a collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment focused on advancing cancer survivorship outcomes.

Position Highlights

• Collaborate on federally-funded behavioral oncology and cancer survivorship research studies
• Play a key role in developing, delivering, and evaluating behavioral interventions for cancer survivors
• Provide clinical expertise through intervention development, intervention delivery, clinical supervision, fidelity monitoring, and interventionist training
• Contribute to scientific manuscripts, conference presentations, data analysis, and grant-related activities
• Work in a highly collaborative environment alongside multidisciplinary research teams

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a motivated psychologist with a strong interest in behavioral intervention research and cancer survivorship. They will have excellent communication, scientific writing, and collaboration skills and thrive in a team-oriented research environment. Key skills/requirements include:

• PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or a related field
• Licensed Psychologist or license-eligible
• Experience delivering evidence-based behavioral interventions
• Strong interest in behavioral oncology, cancer survivorship, and intervention research
• Excellent communication, scientific writing, and collaboration skills
• Preferred experience working with cancer survivors, medical populations, clinical trials, and/or behavioral research studies

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development and evaluation of behavioral interventions for diverse cancer populations
• Deliver manualized behavioral interventions to study participants
• Train, mentor, and support study interventionists
• Provide clinical supervision to study interventionists
• Monitor intervention fidelity to ensure protocol adherence and study quality
• Participate in the design, planning, and conduct of research studies
• Conduct literature reviews
• Collect, manage, analyze, and interpret research data
• Contribute to grant applications, research protocols, progress reports, scientific manuscripts, and presentations
• Attend and participate in scientific conferences, workshops, seminars, and other professional development activities

Credentials And Qualifications

• Minimum of an M.D. or Ph.D. in a discipline relevant to Population Science (e.g., epidemiology, biostatistics, psychology, internal medicine) or related field is required
• Postdoctoral experience preferred but not required.

Salary Range

$80,288.00 - $120,411.20

Salary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range for the role. Actual compensation may vary based on location and a variety of job-related factors, including experience, skills, education, and internal equity among Team Members in similar positions.
