Acute Care Nurse Practitioner - Hospice & Palliative Care

Carolinas Palliative Care & Hospice Group is seeking a full-time Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join their interdisciplinary inpatient palliative care team. In this role, the provider will deliver compassionate palliative care consultations, coordinate symptom management, and participate in a teaching-oriented environment supporting medical students, residents, and APP fellows. Candidates will work collaboratively within a supportive clinical team featuring strong physician backup and a standard daytime schedule.

• Immediate Support Team includes 4 physicians, 3.5 nurse practitioners, 2 social workers and 3 nurses

• Total Clinician Group includes 14 physicians, 17 APPs

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient palliative care as part of a specialized, interdisciplinary team serving patients and families with serious illness needs

• Collaborate with physicians, APPs, nurses, social workers and hospital-based chaplain support to deliver compassionate, coordinated care

• Contribute to a teaching-oriented environment that supports medical students, residents and APP fellows

• Provide inpatient palliative care consultation and ongoing support for patients and families

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support symptom management, goals-of-care discussions and coordinated care planning

• Work closely with physician partners, with supervising physician support

• Participate in an APP call rotation with physician backup always available

Compensation

• Pay Range: $47.50 - $71.25

• Base compensation commensurate with years of experience, starting at $48.80/hour

• Premium pay such as shift, on call, and more based on a teammate's job

Shift & Schedule

• Full-time, 1.0 FTE

• 40 hours per week

• Monday through Friday, standard daytime schedule with office and clinic hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

• Call rotation every 10 to 12 weeks, approximately 3 to 4 times per year

Requirements

• Acute Care Nurse Practitioner training/certification required

• North Carolina state licensure required or ability to obtain prior to start

• At least 1 year of experience preferred

• Palliative care or ICU fellowship experience may be considered

• Strong communication skills, clinical judgment and comfort supporting patients and families through complex serious illness care
